27/06/03 : Anastacia Supports the RIAA :

- In a campaign started by Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Anastacia voiced her opinion against Internet piracy. Music artists showed their support to the RIAA in a series of print and broadcast ads. Anastacia stated, "It is particularly discouraging to young artists and songwriters trying to get their foot in the proverbial door of the music business. I suppose it should be a compliment that people dig your music so much that they're swapping it online. But thievery is thievery. If you dig an artist that much, then you should want to help keep that artist alive by purchasing the actual recording."

Other artists showing their support for the RIAA included the Dixie Chicks, Missy Elliot, Peter Gabriel, Sheryl Crow, Mary J. Blige and others. Read more about this story on the PR Newswire.

- Anastacia and her good friend Sir Elton John, among other celebrities, are auctioning off their sunglasses to raise money for charity.
Also taking part are Minnie Driver, Greg Rusedski, Nick Faldo, Matthew Pinsent, Blue, Colin McRae, Jodie Kidd and Robson Green. It's part of The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association's Celebrity Shades Auction which starts today and runs for five weeks on the Guide Dogs' website, at GuideDogs

Check out Anastacia's funky Dolce & Gabbana shades!

The auction is part of the charity's national fundraising event Shades for a Day, when thousands of people will make a donation to wear their sunglasses on Tuesday, July 15. Guide Dogs' spokesman Robin Hutchinson said: "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to obtain sunglasses previously owned by your favourite celebrity, whilst raising invaluable funds for Guide Dogs." The campaign also aims to raise awareness about protecting your eyes from the sun's harmful ultra violet rays.
